In this work, we report the preparation of dendrite-shaped CuCr2O4 photocatalyst by an anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulphate-mediated co-precipitation method by using [Cu(en)2(H2O)2]Cl2 and [Cr(en)3]Cl3·3H2O as suitable precursors. The photocatalyst was characterized by Fourier transform infrared, X-ray powder diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, and UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The catalytic activity of dendrite CuCr2O4 was evaluated by the photodegradation of Acid Violet 7, Acid Blue 113, and Acid Brown 214. The results revealed that the photocatalytic activity of dendrite-shaped CuCr2O4 was much higher than that of other morphology under UV and Vis irradiation. Our results provide some new insights on the performance of solar active photocatalysts on water treatment of textile and dyeing wastewater.
